Para murder case: Accused criminal arrested after police encounter
Puri: Notorious criminal Jitendra Sahu alias Jitu, one of the accused involved in the firing near Puri Gundicha Temple last month which killed a youth Sanjay Behera (Para), was arrested by police after encounter today morning.
Jitu, stated to be a resident of Abakash lane in Puri was returning from Nayagarh in the wee hours today when a special team of police comprising officials from Khumbharpada and Pipili police stations intercepted him near Barimula chhak on Jatni-Pipili road and nabbed him after an exchange of fire.
Jitu suffered injuries on his leg during firing of two rounds of bullets from the cops. Besides, a bike, pistol and two live bullets were also seized from his possession.
Reportedly, Jitu is one of the prime accused in a firing Sanjay Behera alias Para near Puri Gundicha Temple on December 25.
Para who sustained critical injuries succumbed to his injuries the next day. After police probe it was revealed that attack on Para was pre-planned by his former associate Munna and his aides including Jitu due to growing dispute between them over smuggling of narcotics.
Following the incident a special police team jointly operate by IICs of Kumbharpada and Pipili was formed to hunt down the culprits. Even as the main conspirator Munna had surrended before the Nimapada court recently, Jitu was absconding.
