Youth leader arrested in Saheed Nagar police station vandalism case
Bhubaneswar: A week after Saheed Nagar police station was ransacked and four policemen were assaulted by a group of miscreants, the Commissionerate Police arrested the prime accused, Prakash Tripathy, from his residence at VSS Nagar here on Saturday.
Tripathy, who is the vice-president of Biju Yuva Janata Dal, will be forwarded to court
On March 6, police had arrested two students of Utkal University for their involvement in the vandalism inside the police station and attack on policemen.
On March 3 evening, four policemen, including the IIC and an ASI of Saheed Nagar police station, had sustained critical injuries after a group of hooligans attacked them when the cops tried to stop them from attacking three persons, who were detained at the police station in a road accident case.
The assailants also ransacked the police station by vandalising furniture, CCTV cameras, TV set and flower pots.
