Govt cautions Subhadra beneficiaries about cyber fraudsters

Bhubaneswar: With women beneficiaries eagerly waiting for the launch of Subhadra Yojana, the Odisha government on Monday advised them to observe precautions against traps of cyber fraudsters.

Ahead of the launch of the ambitious scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida advised people to avoid such traps by fraudsters.

There have been reports of cyber fraudsters having duped some people in the name of Subhadra Yojana by sending them links or by making phone calls, she said.

Making it clear that the Odisha government is not sending any links or making phone calls to any beneficiary, Parida said the government has received information that someone has lost around Rs 12000 to such fraud.

Therefore, people must be careful and avoid clicking on any link or share personal details like OTP and other things with anyone over the phone. “People must remain alert. No phone calls or links is being sent by the government for Subhadra Yojana. Money will be directly credited to their bank account,” the Deputy CM said.

Stating that the first instalment of Rs 5000 will be transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries, she said arrangements have been made for live streaming of the launch event at 318 other places in the state.

The process of registration for Subhadra Yojana will continue even after the formal launch of the scheme by the Prime Minister, Parida added.
