Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Friday sent a clear message to Collectors that there is no question of compromise on corruption under the BJP rule in the State. While speaking at the 2-day Collectors’ Conference held in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister said that he came across several irregularities during the tenure of the previous government.
“All the allegations that you might come across via MPs, MLAs, media and people may not be true but the Collectors should take necessary steps after conducting an investigation. The government has given the Collectors the right to take steps. However, my message is clear- there is no question of compromise on corruption,” said CM Majhi.
According to the Chief Minister, the new government has completed 100 days in office and has already taken a number of welfare projects for the people. For the government, early start and early completion has always remained a concern, he said.
“I have realised that there is a huge deviation and there is corruption, irregularities and escalation of project cost due to inordinate delays. I have observed a trend that the work usually progresses at a snail’s pace throughout and there is progress in expenditure at lightning speed in the month of March. This leads to deterioration in quality of work. There is no dearth of funds and hence the officials should write to the concerned departments to resolve the issues. The officials can directly contact the Chief Minister. The Collectors have been asked to conduct regular monitoring of block-wise implementation of schemes along with financial and physical progress,” said CM Majhi.
The Chief Minister also urged the Collectors to take steps to review projects which are at various levels. They should take steps to map these projects using technology and review things after analysing the real-time data and resolve the bottlenecks.
CM Majhi further said that the conference is important for governance and administration as Collectors act as the last mile connectivity for the government. The state government can come up with policies, but Collectors have a key role to play as they can ensure that the schemes reach the beneficiaries. A Collector is government for people in other parts of the state, he said.
Several key schemes like Subhadra, paddy procurement, drinking water, industrial development and industrial hub, grievances and service delivery mechanisms will be discussed at the Collectors’ conference. If the schemes are implemented properly, the benefits can reach the beneficiaries. If this happens, the state can march towards the path of progress, the CM added.

Odisha CM Mohan Majhi also shared his views on several issues and sought cooperation of the administrative officials.
According to the chief minister, the state government is a people’s government and it is committed to development of health, education, infrastructure, women empowerment and speed up the pace of development of the state.
“Hard work is the key to success and the state government wants to transform the state into a number 1 state in the country. Odisha is rich in resources. However, there has been no proper utilisation of these resources due to several reasons. Hoping for development is not justified when the governance is in the hands of inefficient,” said CM Majhi.
“I have been actively involved with the people in the last 27 years. From a sarpanch to MLA and serving people as CM, I have learnt a lot and understood the pain of the people from close quarters. Be it sarpanch or CM, I am hearing the same kind of problems from the people. Today, I have an opportunity to resolve the issues of people in a better way. A road map has been drawn by the government,” the CM added.
