Low Pressure Weakens; Yellow Warning For 12 Odisha Districts Till Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience rain, thunderstorm and lightning in the next 24 hours even as the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal weakened, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

The low pressure area over north Bay of Bengal & adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal has become less marked. However, the associated cyclonic circulation lies over northern parts of Gangetic West Bengal & neighbourhood, it said.

The weather agency said an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast.

In a bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh till Sunday.

Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapada during the period. The weather agency issued yellow warning for these districts.
