Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy has expressed her displeasure over tardy progress in the construction of quarters for MLAs in Bhubaneswar.
The Speaker, who has held thorough review of the high-rise MLA quarters project at least twice, said that work is progressing in a very slow pace. “It is not satisfactory as all. The pace of work has been extremely slow because of certain decisions taken earlier,” she said.
Expressing the hope that the work will be completed by the end of 2025, the Speaker said that the MLAs who are not allotted official quarters will get Rs 30,000 per month.
Voicing similar views, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ramachandra Kadam said MLAs are facing inconvenience because of tardy progress in the construction of quarters for them. Stating that the government and Speaker need to monitor the construction work regularly, he said MLAs are forced to stay in guest house in the absence of quarters for them.
