Bhubaneswar: The night temperature in Odisha plummeted below 7°C in the last 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.
G Udayagiri in Kandhamal was the coldest at 6.6°C followed by Semiliguda in Koraput at 9.3°C, Phulbani and Daringbadi also in Kandhamal at 10°C and 10.5°C respectively, and Rourkela at 11.9°C. Jharsuguda at 12.2°C and Angul at 12.8°C saw a sharp drop of 4.3-and 4.7 degrees respectively from the normal.
Bhawanipatna also at 12.2°C, Chiplima in Sambalpur at 12.8°C, Nabarangpur 13°C, Kirei and Sundargarh at 13.5°C each, Bhadrak, Balangir and Rayagada at 14°C each, Koraput and Keonjhar at 14.4°C each, Sonepur and Nayagarh at 14.7°C each, Dhenkanal at 14.8°C and Mahisapat at 14.9°C, saw the mercury drop below 15°C.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 16.1°C and 16°C respectively. The twin cities had recorded 16.8°C and 16°C respectively the previous day and 16°C and 16.5°C on November 17.
The national forecaster has also predicted shallow to moderate fog at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Keonjhar on November 19-20. The weather agency added that there will no large change in the minimum temperature during the next 5 days.
