Bhubaneswar: Security measures have been intensified in the state capital ahead of the three-day Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IG) conference, starting November 29.
Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh announced on Wednesday that key areas and routes in the city are now no-fly zones, anticipating the arrival of high-profile dignitaries such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval. This marks the first time the conference is being held in the state.
No-fly zones include the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Raj Bhawan, Lok Seva Bhawan, the state guesthouse, and the IPS mess at Maitri Vihar, as well as the connecting routes, effective until December 1, the event’s final day.
Singh detailed the extensive security measures in place to protect the VVIPs and leading delegates, aiming to avert any adverse incidents. Deployments of the BSF, CRPF, and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been made for comprehensive anti-sabotage sweeps. Singh said, 70 platoons of force are being deployed to guard Bhubaneswar
On Khalistani terrorist Pannun releasing a video threatening the DGP conference, CP says security personnel are fully prepared to foil all evil designs of anti-India conspirators.
The Commissionerate Police has ramped up patrols and blockades across various sectors, with the installation of CCTV cameras and the positioning of human intelligence units at vital points throughout the city.
Singh has called for the support of the city’s inhabitants to ensure the conference’s success and to honour Bhubaneswar and the state.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive on the evening of November 29 and will participate in the DGP conference on November 30 and December 1. A warm reception is planned for his arrival at the city airport, where he is also expected to address a group of party supporters. Additionally, he might visit the state BJP office on the first day.
