Seminar on drug abuse organised

Bhubaneswar: The Inner Wheel Club of Bhubaneswar Temple City in collaboration with Maharishi College of Natural Law, Saheed Nagar organised a seminar on ‘Drug Abuse and its Ill Effect on Youth’ here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Psychologist of Manam Foundation, a mental health center in Bhubaneswar, Somya Mahapatra said substance use disorder can lead to short- and long-term negative health effects. These can be physical and mental, ranging from moderate to severe. They will depend on the substance a person had been using, she said.

She also spoke about how youths of today are getting addicted to drugs, the causes of drug addiction and how to overcome it. She also mentioned about their organisation and her contribution in giving therapy to the addicts and curing them.

The Principal of Maharishi College motivated the students by taking an oath from them to help creating a drug-free society. The seminar was conducted by club president Madhumita Das.

Among others, members of the club – Charter President Alaka Mishra, ISO Rajalaxmi Sabat, Anshu Mishra and Banaja Behera were present.
