Mercury may soar to 40°C by mid-March

Bhubaneswar: The day temperature in Odisha is likely to touch 40 degree Celsius with the India Meteorological Department predicting a gradual rise in the mercury levels by 4-6°C during the next 3-4 days.

The night temperature is also expected to rise by 2-4°C during the next 3 days, according to the midday bulletin.

According to the weather agency, the mercury may soar to 40 degree Celsius at several places in southern and western Odisha by March 13 when the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are likely to record 38 and 37 degree Celsius respectively.

It has also forecast light to moderate rain at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal districts till 8.30 am on Monday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over south Odisha, which has become less marked.

While dry weather will prevail across the state during the subsequent 3 days, light to moderate rain may resume on March 14 and become more widespread during the next 2 days, it added.

MARCH 14: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

MARCH 15: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapada.

MARCH 16: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers may occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts.
