Bhubaneswar: At least 20 passengers were injured, some of them critically, when a Mo Bus fell into a roadside nullah along National Highway No. 16 near Pitapalli Chhak on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
As per preliminary reports, the mishap took place when the Mo Bus from Bhubaneswar was proceeding towards Khurda and it suddenly skidded off the road before falling into a nullah.
While the exact reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the mishap occurred after the driver of the Mo Bus lost control over the wheel. Locals gathered at the site rescued the passengers. All the injured passengers were admitted to hospital in Khurda. Some of them were later shifted to the Capital hospital in Bhubaneswar, sources said.
Locals said it seems the bus hit some object and then skidded off the road before falling into the nullah. While the injured are undergoing treatment at Khurda, several of them havereportedly been shifted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Further details are awaited.
