Temperature crosses 46 degree celsius in Odisha, Baripada hottest

Bhubaneswar: Day temperature crossed 46 degree Celsius in Odisha with Bhubaneswar recording its hottest day on Tuesday.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, as many as 15 places in the state registered maximum (day) temperature of 44 degree or more on the day.

Baripada was the hottest with 46.4 degree Celsius, followed by Balasore with 46 degree. Bhubaneswar recorded 45.4 degree Celsius which was the highest this season.

The IMD said maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 3 to 6°C in some districts during next 4 to 5 days.

It has issued a red warning and said heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur and Boudh in next 24 hours.

The Met office also issued orange warning for Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri and Rayagada where heat wave condition is very likely during the period.
