Kerala: A video showing the employees of a private marketing firm in Kerala’s Kochi being subjected to inhuman treatment has gone viral. In the purported video, one of the employees is shown walking on his knees like a chained dog for not meeting his target.
Cops said a former manager had issues with the company owner and shot the video with the new trainees. The manager reportedly claimed that it was a part of the training. Cops have called the clip a deceptive video.
The viral video, which shows the man being tied with a leash around his neck and a man making him walk on his knees like a dog, was shot about four months ago, reported the India Today. According to the report, the manager has left the company now.
Another video showed employees being compelled to undress as a punishment. After such videos surfaced, the state Labour Department ordered a probe into the alleged workplace harassment.
Police have recorded the statements of the employees. According to the police, the incident allegedly took place at a private marketing firm functioning in Kaloor. However, in a twist, the man purportedly shown in the visuals as harassed and tortured, told the media later that there was no workplace harassment.
“I am still working in the firm. These visuals were from some months ago and forcefully taken by a person who was working as the manager of the institution then. He was later asked to quit by the management and he is now using the visuals to tarnish the owner of the firm,” he said, as quoted by India Today.
The State Human Rights Commission registered a case into the incident based on a complaint by High Court lawyer Kulathoor Jaisingh.
