4 rescued after massive fire engulfs Bank of India’s branch

Baripada: Odisha Fire Service personnel on Monday rescued four persons, who were trapped inside Bank of India’s zonal office branch in Baripada after a major fire broke out in its canteen on the third floor.

According to sources, several employees and customers were inside the bank when the fire that originated in the canteen quickly spread to other parts of the building. Three teams of fire fighters were soon pressed into service to douse the flames. They faced problems while rescuing the four persons, including a woman staffer, as smoke engulfed the entire branch.

While an investigation is underway in the incident, a possible LPG cylinder leak is suspected to have caused the fire.
