Bhubaneswar: Minister of Housing and Urban Development Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Tuesday distributed the letters of allotment of houses to beneficiaries under the State government’s Affordable Housing Project (AHP) in Bhubaneswar.
The minister handed over the allotment letters to total 116 beneficiaries at a function held at IDCOL Auditorium in Bhubaneswar. The houses were allotted to 47 beneficiaries for Chandrasekharpur AHP, 36 for Nilamadhab Awas AHP, and 28 for Subudhipur’s Barunei Enclave AHP.
Speakingon the occasion, Mahapatra said the government was committed to meet the housing needs of the slum dwellers. “The government aims to improve the quality of life of the urban poor by providing them shelter through BDA’s affordable housing schemes. The projects are equipped with necessary infrastructure for basic amenities,” he said.
The beneficiaries of the scheme were selected through a lottery system in the presence of an Independent Observer. The government plans to construct 2,600 houses on 20 acre of land in Chandrasekharpur Mauja. Of these, 820 houses have already been completed, and 737 allotted to beneficiaries. The remaining 1,863 houses will be distributed in phases.
Similarly, 1,200 houses are being developed in Nilamadhav Awas project, 342 houses in Barunei Enclave in Subudhipur and 1,300 houses Keshari Residency slum in Satyanagar.
