Bhubaneswar: The piped water supply to 16 blocks in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district will be operational from October.
This was revealed during the visit of secretary to chief minister (5T) VK Pandian to the district on second day on Saturday. He reviewed the progress of ongoing mega piped water supply schemes and multi village piped water schemes coming up at a cost of Rs 2127 crore in Bangriposi, Samakhunta, Kuliana, Suliapda, Morada, Rasgovindpur, Betnoti, Udala, Gopabandhu Nagar, Kaptipada, Tiring, Bahalda, Jamda, Rairangpur, Saraskana, Bisoi blocks. He directed the officials to ensure the completion within the timelines.
Pandian reviewed the ongoing Subarnarekha irrigation project works. The project, which is irrigating 20,000 acre in Betanoti block at present, will cover 72,000 acre in the coming years. Besides, 11,000 acre in Badasahi will be covered.
He also reviewed the progress of ongoing mega lift irrigation projects taken up with a cost of Rs 179 crore. It will irrigate 14,910 acre in Kuliana, Betnoti and Saraskana blocks. The project is in tender stage.
Pandian also reviewed the progress of various road projects being implemented with Rs 245 crore in Bangriposi, Moroda and Udala blocks. He reviewed the progress of Ama Hospitals in Bangriposi, Morada, Betnoti and Udala Block.
During the day, the secretary participated in the public grievance meetings at Bangriposi, Morada, Betnoti and Udala. He interacted with the public regarding their grievances.
He interacted with Mission Shakti groups at Baripada and assured them of support from the government for their activities. He visited the Mission Shakti Cafe in Baripada and appreciated their initiative.
Special Secretary to CM R Vineel Krishna, IG Himansu Lal, Collector Vineet Bhardwaj, SP Batula Gangadhar and other district officials accompanied him during the visit.
