Bhubaneswar: A three-year-old girl of Kela Sahi slum in Sundarpada area under Airfield police limits in Bhubaneswar was allegedly raped and murdered on Monday night. The accused has been identified as Ghania Das, who lives in the same slum.
Police have arrested the accused within 24 hours of the crime. Das, who was known to the girl’s family, had gone to her house while her parents were away on work at around 6 pm. He lured her to his house on the pretext of giving her candies and allegedly raped the girl and killed her by slitting her throat before fleeing the spot.
On returning from work, the girl’s parents found her missing from house and frantically searched for her. They later found her in a pool of blood with cuts on her neck in the neighbour’s house. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl’s parents accusing Ghania of committing the crime, the Airfield police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab him. They traced Ghania on Tuesday and arrested him.
