Bhubaneswar: The primary teachers in Odisha on Wednesday announced to intensify their ongoing stir demanding fulfilment of their three-point charter of demands.
The teachers’ association also announced to hold a ‘Maha Samavesh’ in front of the Odisha Assembly on September 26, 2023. Nearly 1 lakh teachers are likely to participate in the Maha Samavesh here in the Capital city.
“Nine associations are together and our cease-work strike in front of the block education officers’ office will also continue. We will hold a Maha Samavesh in Bhubaneswar on September 26. Our agitation will continue till our demands are not met,” said Primary Teachers’ Association president, Bramhanand Moharana.
It is now almost 13 days that the primary teachers are staging a demonstration demanding the abolition of the contractual appointment system, a hike in grade pay, and restoration of the old pension scheme. The primary school teachers have been staging protests since September 8.
Meanwhile, School and Mass Education Minister, Sudam Marndi today said, “As per the Constitution, everybody has equal rights. But at any cost, one cannot snatch another’s right to fulfil own demands.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has called the Nikhil Utkal Primary Teachers’ Association, which had put its strike on hold yesterday, for a discussion on September 23.
