Bhubaneswar: Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary to Department of Water Resources Anu Garg on Thursday visited irrigation projects in Sambalpur and Bargarh districts.
She visited the Pump House of Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project in Bargarh district which aimed at providing irrigation facilities to Additional Ayacut area under the project. She interacted with the office-bearers of Pani Panchayats including women functionaries about the management issues of Pani Panchayats and gave necessary suggestions for smooth functioning the PPs and how this project is going to benefit the farmers.
The Development Commissioner also visited the outlet flushing work at Dumerpani and Sarandapali under the project to facilitate irrigation of 20 hectares and 2 hectares of land in respective area. The entire area of Additional Ayacut totalling to 5750 ha will be irrigated in the ensuing Kharif season.
This is Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) enabled. Trial irrigation in this Rabi season to the tune of 2000 ha will also be provided.
