Assembly Elections: Most exit polls give edge to NDA in Maharashtra, Jharkhand

New Delhi: Voting is over, the results for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections will only be out on November 23. Wednesday evening was the time for pollsters, who tried to do their job to the best of their abilities despite the flak they got in some of the previous elections for their totally flawed predictions.

If the pollsters manage to get it right this time, BJP and NDA will emerge victorious in Maharashtra. Jharkhand could see anti-incumbency work against Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress’ INDIA group, with most exit polls projecting victory for BJP and NDA.

Axis-My India poll is an exception, and gives INDIA group a clear majority with 53 seats out of 88. Dainik Bhaskar exit poll, however, predicts a possible hung assembly in Jharkhand.

If four exit polls are taken into account, Mahayuti – the ruling alliance of BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) – could win around 160 seats out of 288 in Maharashtra Assembly.

On the other hand, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the coalition of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray), NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Congress, may end with 120-125 and fall short of majority mark.

Maharashtra exit poll numbers:

  • Matrize exit poll: Mahayuti 150 to 170 seats and the MVA 110 to 130.
  • People’s Pulse: Mahayuti 175-195, MVA 85-112 seats.
  • P-MARQ: Mahayuti 137-157 seats, MVA 126-146.
  • Lokshahi Marathi Rudra: Mahayuti 128 to 142 seats, MVA 125 to 140.
  • Chanakya Strategies: Mahayuti 152 to 160 seats, MVA 130 to 138.
  • Dainik Bhaskar: Mahayuti 125-140 seats, MVA 135-150.

Jharkhand exit poll numbers:

  • Matrize: NDA 42 to 47 seats, INDIA group 25 to 30 seats.
