Ayodhya: The historic city of Ayodhya is set to illuminate the night sky with a dazzling display of 28 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) as part of the grand Deepotsav celebrations.
This monumental event aims to set a new Guinness World Record for the highest number of oil lamps lit simultaneously at a single location, marking a significant moment in the city’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
A Festival of Lights and Faith
Deepotsav, celebrated to honor Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, has always been a significant event for devotees. This year, the festival holds even greater importance as it is the first Deepotsav since the consecration of the Ram Temple. The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has left no stone unturned to ensure the event’s grandeur and success.
Record-Breaking Preparations
The preparations for this year’s Deepotsav have been meticulous and extensive. Over 30,000 volunteers have been mobilized to light the 28 lakh diyas across 55 ghats along the Saryu River. Each volunteer is responsible for lighting approximately 85-90 diyas, ensuring that every corner of the ghats is bathed in the warm glow of the lamps.
In addition to the diyas, the festival will feature a spectacular aarti (ritual worship) performed by over 1,100 people, another record attempt for the largest aarti conducted simultaneously. The event will also include traditional folk performances, drone shows, and cultural programs, adding to the festive atmosphere.
A Global Spotlight
A team from Guinness World Records is present to oversee and validate the record attempts. The counting of the diyas, conducted with the help of drones, began early in the day to ensure accuracy and transparency. The event has drawn attention from across the globe, with artists and dignitaries from various countries participating in the celebrations.
