Bargarh: Bhubaneswar Pradhan will play the role of Kansa at the 77th Dhanu Yatra, the world-famous open-air theatre in Bargarh, from January 3, 2025. The festival will continue for 11 days till January 13.
The selection process for ‘Kansa’ for the upcoming Dhanu Yatra Festival was held at Bargarh Biju Patnaik Town Hall on Sunday.
In this selection process, Bhubaneswar Pradhan of Sarla village, Bargarh block, has secured first place and has got the opportunity to perform the role of ‘Kansa’ in the upcoming Dhanu Yatra Festival.
Pradhan has won the hearts of the audience by performing the role of Kansa many times in the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra Festival.
After Hrishikesh Bhoi, who played the role of Kansa in the Bargarh Dhanu Yatra last year, was accused of taking bribes, a hunt was on for the right artist to perform the mythological character, Kansa.Bargarh Dhanu YatraAs per the decision of the Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav Committee, four artists participated in the audition process. Among them were Artatran Sunani, Jagdananda Mishra, Bhubaneswar Pradhan and Sushil Kumar Meher.
Leaving everyone behind, Bhubaneswar Pradhan bagged the opportunity to play the role of Kansa in the upcoming Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav.
