Deogarh: Alleging a spurt in atrocities on women during BJD rule, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday said that liquor will be banned in Odisha is BJP is voted to power in the state.
“BJP will ban liquor if it is voted to power in Odisha,” Dhaemendra said while addressing a Vijay Sankalp Samavesh of the saffron party at Tileibani in Deogarh district ahead of the twin elections.
The senior BJP leader, who is contesting as the saffron party candidate from Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, said that restriction would also be imposed on country liquor if BJP forms government in the state after the upcoming elections.
A license system would be introduced for country liquor and concrete steps would be taken to put an end to large scale corruption taking place in the name of revenue collection during the BJD government, Dharmendra said.
The move would also go a long way in preventing atrocities on women, which has been on the rise in Odisha for which the BJD government is responsible, he said.
Accusing the Naveen Patnaik government of not extending support in land acquisition for railway projects in the state, the senior leader urged people to vote BJP to power in Odisha so that the Talcher-Bimalagarh ralline work is completed within next five years.
Coming down heavily on the BJD government, Dharmendra said while the Centre is providing fund for women self-help groups (SHGs), the regional party ruling the state is taking full credit by misleading people.
He lashed out at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and asked as to why the people in Odisha ae poor despite the state having fertile land and mineral resources.
