CM disburses 2nd instalment of Subhadra Yojana on Women’s Day

Berhampur: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disbursed the second instalment of Subhadra Yojana during a special programme at Ambapua in Odisha’s Berhampur on Saturday, coinciding with the International Women’s Day.

The second instalment of Rs 5,000 was credited to account of the beneficiaries, whose number has already crossed one crore.

Deputy Chief Ministers K V Singh Deo and Parvati Parida and Ministers Prithviraj Harichandan, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Gokulanand Mallick, Berhampur MP Pradeep Panigrahi, Aska MP Anita Shubhadarsani , among others, attend the programme, which saw participation from over 50,000 women from across Ganjam and neighbouring districts.

Since the launch of the fund transfer scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17 last year, more than 1.8 crore women have registered for the initiative with Rs 5,000 already distributed in five phases over the past eight months.

On Thursday, the government disbursed Rs 117 crore among 2.30 lakh new beneficiaries under the fifth phase of the first instalment. Those who are yet to receive the benefits will get three instalments, amounting to Rs 15,000, in one go on the auspicious occasion of Rakhi Purnima.

Subhadra Yojana aims to provide Rs 50,000 to eligible women aged 21 to 60 years over five years (2024-25 to 2028-29) to make them financially independent and self-reliant. The state government will spend over Rs 55,825 crore on the scheme in five years.
