DC Anu Garg inaugurates FPOs Taranga mela

Bhubaneswar: Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Friday inaugurated a three-day NABARD Farmer Producers Organisation (FPO) Taranga Mela here.

The fair is being organised by NABARD in association with Small Farmer’s Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) at Swadhinata Sangrami Sadan Ground from 8 to 10 March.

Garg expressed the objective of Mela is to provide a platform for farmers to directly connect buyers and consumers, access markets more effectively and negotiate better price for their producer while providing consumers with quality products. She advised the FPOs to focus on the branding and packaging of the products along with the quality aspect as per the customer requirement.  

NABARD General Manager Dr. BB Sahoo welcomed all the participants of FPO and Off Farm Producer Organisation (OFPO) members to the Taranga Mela and said such events serve as showcases of agriculture innovations, technologies and best practices to enhance productivity and sustainability in farming. He highlighted that the purpose of the FPO Mela with the motto of ‘Celebrating Collectivisation’ is to demonstrate the product of FPOs.

Among others, SFAC Director Natabar Pal, NABARD GM SR Panda and DGM Kamalakanta Pattnaik were present.
