Bhubaneswar: People experienced significant rise in the night temperatures in most parts of Odisha, while dense fog engulfed many areas, throwing life out of gear.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Koraput was the coldest place in the state in the last 24 hours recording 6.5°C, while Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Phulbani recorded minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius.
Other places in the state where the nighttime temperatures were around or below 10°C include G Udayagiri (7.5°C), Semiliguda (8.5°C), and Daringbadi (8.0°C).
The MeT Centre said that the minimum temperatures stood below 15 degree Celsius in several parts of Odisha.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperatures of 16°C and 15.5°C respectively.
Moderate to dense fog was experienced in many parts of the state in the early hours of Monday, disrupting normal life and affecting vehicular movement due reduced visibility. The MeT Centre said that the night temperatures would continue to rise gradually over the next few days but winter chill would persist for some time.
