Angul: Excise officials busted a duplicate IMFL producing unit and arrested 2 persons in this connection in Odisha’s Angul district on Saturday.
Following reliable information about transportation of fake India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), the Excise sleuths carried out checking of the vehicles near Machhakuta village under Chhendipada police limits in the district on the day.
During the checking, they found country liquor kept in three huge plastic containers and large quantity of empty IMFL bottles and caps in bags in a van. The Excise officials detained two persons travelling in the vehicle.
On the basis of the information provided by the two persons, the Excise sleuths conducted raid on a house in Machhakuta village. They seized a machine used for bottling the liquor and sealing its cap.
Further investigation revealed that the two persons, identified as Tiku Behera of Machhakuta and Bipin Sahu of Godidiha village in Dhenkanal district, used to procure the empty IMFL bottles and caps from outside the state. They were adding some chemical colour to country liquor and bottling it in IMFL bottles.
Both persons also admitted that they were supplying the spurious country liquor at the rate of IMFL in remote areas of the district and outside. The two persons were arrested and forwarded to court.
