Festival of Colours: Odisha soaks in Holi fervour

Bhubaneswar: Holi festivities gripped Odisha with the revelry spilling onto the streets, and the myriad hues spreading cheer and strengthening bonds.

The denizens with faces and clothes smeared with red, pink and blue could be seen wishing family and friends with Holi hugs and sweets. Several cultural and entertainment programmes are also being organised in various parts of the State to celebrate the festival of colours.

Students of residential educational institutions across the State also celebrated Holi with a riot of colours and diversity on campuses. Sweets, fruits and crispy namkeens added to the rich culinary delight of the joyful celebration.

Wishing people of Odisha on Holi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote: “May everyone’s life be filled with happiness and peace with the blessings of Radha Gobind.”

The state BJP office in Bhubaneswar organised ‘Bandhu Milan’ programme here, which was attended by leaders, workers and journalists.

The festival of colours, love, and spring celebrates the eternal and divine love of Radha and Krishna. Additionally, the day signifies the triumph of good over evil as it commemorates the victory of Vishnu as Narasimha over Hiranyakashipu. It takes place in the Hindu month of Phalgun, which falls between February and March.
