Healthcare Services Affected Across Odisha As Nursing Officers Cease Work

Bhubaneswar: With nursing officers in Odisha ceasing work putting forth a 10-point charter of demands, healthcare services have been affected statewide.

The patients and their attendants are now at the receiving end owing to the ongoing strike by members of Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association (ONEA).

“What can we do as our demands are not being fulfilled by the government? We urge the authorities to intervene in the matter so that the strike ends at the earliest,” the protesting nursing officers said.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has called for a meeting with the association to discuss their demands, expressing hope that the discussions will prevent further disruption of healthcare services.

Members of the association are on a two-day strike to press for their demands, including regularisation of left out contractual nursing officers, pay parity, promotion and other benefits on par with other state government employees.
