Bhubaneswar: Entire Odisha continued to sizzle under heatwave as 10 places recorded temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more on Friday.
According to evening bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, as many as 32 places in the state experienced hot and humid condition with mercury touching 40 degree Celsius on the day. Boudh town was the hottest in the state with maximum (day) temperature going up to 44.3 degree Celsius. It was followed by Baripada with 44.2 degree, Jharsuguda 43.8, Angul 43.7 and Titlagarh 43.5 degree Celsius.
Balangir, Bhawanipatna, Malkangiri, Nuapada and Nayagarh registered maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius.
The IMD has forecast that the heatwave condition will prevail in Odisha till April 21. Day temperature is very likely to be 40°C or above at most places and above normal by 3 to 5°C in some districts during next 2 days, it added.
The Met office issued orange warning and said heatwave to severe heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh till Saturday.
Heat wave condition is very likely at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Khurda, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur during the period.
Earlier in the day, the IMD said the state can expect some relief from the blistering heatwave due to thunderstorm activity from Saturday.
