Heavy Rain To Resume In Odisha From Sept 13 As Circulation Forms Over Myanmar

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain may resume in Odisha as a cyclonic circulation over central parts of Myanmar is expected to move west-northwest towards coastal Bangladesh and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 2 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Wednesday.

The weather agency has issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning for isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts till 8.30 am on Thursday. Light to moderate rain/thundershower may also occur at a few places in Interior Odisha and at one or two places in coastal Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning may continue at isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh during the subsequent 24 hours.

On September 13, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) accompanied by thunderstorm with lightning may occur at isolated places in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely at isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts.

The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Angul, Bargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts on September 14.

While there is no further weather warning, light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at many places in North Interior Odisha and at a few places in North Coastal Odisha, South Interior Odisha and at one or two places in South Coastal Odisha. Light to moderate rain/thundershower may continue at a few places in Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha during the subsequent 2 days, it added.
