JP Nadda to attend 2-day Odisha BJP Executive Committee meet in Puri

Bhubaneswar: BJP national president J P Nadda will attend the state executive committee meeting of Odisha BJP to be held for two days on July 19 and 20 at Puri, Party state unit president Manmohan Samal informed on Tuesday.

“Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to attend the two-day executive committee meeting. However, BJP National President JP Nadda will be attending the event on July 19 owing to Singh’s unavailability due to health issues,” he said.

State BJP vice president Biranchi Tripathy said that coordinators for Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies, district presidents, officials of various morchas, CM and all MLAs, MPs, Union Ministers of the party will be present.

“The political situation and other crucial aspects along with welfare programmes will be discussed and next course of action will be prepared. The BJP will do whatever it takes to make Odisha a developed state,” he added.

This will be the first state executive committee meeting of the BJP after forming its maiden government in Odisha and sweeping the Lok Sabha poll, winning 20 of 21 seats. Though the party is yet to make the agenda for the meeting public, it is most likely to review the Assembly segments where its candidates lost by a slender margin. There also have been allegations of poor selection of candidates and sale of party tickets in some constituencies.

According to BJP sources, three resolutions are likely to passed by the party with the first expressing gratitude to the people of Odisha for reposing faith in the party by electing it to form the government and helping Prime Minister Narendra Modi to return to power for the third consecutive term. In the second, the party may convey its gratitude to the PM for his rigorous election campaign in Odisha which helped turn the tide in its favour. In the third resolution, the party will congratulate Modi for his historic victory and forming government at the Centre for the third time.
