New Delhi: BJP leader and actor Kangana Ranaut on Thursday was slapped by a CISF constable at the Chandigarh airport. The CISF constable has been suspended. The incident took place at around 3:30 pm when Kangana was about to board a flight to Delhi.
Hours after the incident, the BJP leader released a video confirming the incident and linked it to rising extremism and terrorism in Punjab. “A CISF personnel hit me on my face and hurled abuses. When I asked why she did that, she said she supported the farmers’ protests. I am safe. But I am concerned about the rising extremism and terrorism in Punjab,” the BJP leader said in a video.
Meanwhile, an inquiry committee comprising senior CISF officers has been set up to conduct a further investigation.
Kangana has been elected as the Member of Parliament from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency. Earlier on Thursday, Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram stories to share a picture of herself traveling to Delhi in her car. In the picture, she wrote, “On my way to the Parliament. Mandi ki sansad (sic).”
Kangana secured a resounding victory over Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, with a margin of 74,755 votes. She garnered a total of 5,37,022 votes in the election. The BJP has emerged as the single largest party, winning 240 seats. With the support of N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar as part of the NDA alliance, the party is poised to form the government at the Centre.
