Kishore Jena to receive Sportslogon Sports Award

Bhubaneswar: Javelin sensation Kishore Kumar Jena will receive the Sportslogon Player of the Year Sports Award-2024 at a function to be held at Tennis Conference Hall in Kalinga Stadium here on October 29.

After a gap of four years, the Sportslogon Sports Award-2024 will be announced on various categories. Asian Games silver medalist Kishore Kumar Jena will receive a trophy along with a cash award of Rs 25,000. The 29-year-old javelin thrower had figured among the top five in the World Athletics Championship at Budapest.

In other categories, para-athlete Suchitra Parida and football coach Suvendu Panda will receive emerging player and coach of year award respectively. Suchitra set a new national record in the Javelin throw event in 2023, while under the guidance of coach Suvendu Panda, the Indian national U-15, U-17 and U-19 teams brought many laurels to the country.

However, the national U-19 team emerged SAFF champion by defeating Pakistan and the U-15 team bagged bronze medal in SAFF championship. He is the only Odisha coach having AFC-A license. Suchitra and Suvendu will receive a cash award of Rs 25,000 each.

The young swimming star of the State, Mannata Mishra, and former volleyball player Dukhishyama Mallick will receive Kumudini Krida Prativa Puraskar and Player of the Bygone Era Award respectively. Mannata and Dukhishyama will receive a trophy along with a cash award of Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
