Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will organise “Krushi Odisha 2024” in Bhubaneswar to showcase the state’s potential for investment in agriculture and allied sectors.
Speaking at a presser on Monday, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Fisheries and ARD said the theme for the Krushi Odisha is ‘Celebrating Women in Agriculture’. It will be held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar from January 12 to 14.
The minister said the event aims at recognising the contribution of women in agriculture and allied sectors. Besides, it would offer a platform for interface and linkage among women farmers, SHGs, women agri-entrepreneurs, market players, service providers. It will also enable them to showcase best products and practices of women farmers.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will attend the inaugural ceremony of the 3-day programme where the government will expose the potential of investment opportunities in agriculture, horticulture, food processing, fisheries and animal husbandry sectors.
Around 5,000 farm women, 2,000 women SHGs, agri-entrepreneurs from different corners of the state will participate in the event and successful women farmers & SHGs will be felicitated.
There will be 17 technical sessions in coordination with different government departments, Central government, ICAR institutes, CGIAR institutes, NGOs along with farmer-scientist interactions, seminars, farmer facilitation centre, experience learning centre, display of farm machineries, exhibition stalls on farm produce, felicitation of awardees for women farmers and women SHGs.
Besides, quizzes, lectures, experimental water game, local farmer songs, storytelling and postcard exchange will be organised.
Arbinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, A&FE, Prem Chandra Chaudhary, Director, Agriculture and Food Production also spoke at the press meet. Rohit Kumar Lenka, Director, Horticulture and representative of FICCI was present.
