Bhubaneswar: In a significant development for Odisha’s water management and infrastructure, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced the construction of a new reservoir and barrage on the Mahanadi River. This announcement was made during a session in the Odisha Assembly on Thursday.
The Chief Minister revealed that survey work for the project is currently underway, with detailed information being shared with central agencies to ensure comprehensive planning and execution.
“Various information about the new project has been shared with some central agencies. The concerned chief engineers have also been provided with the necessary maps,” stated CM Majhi.
The new barrage is expected to enhance water storage capacity, improve irrigation facilities, and support the region’s agricultural activities. It will also play a crucial role in flood control and water supply management for the surrounding areas.
