Bhubaneswar: A massive fire erupted in the underground market at the Unit-I Market Building area in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, Diwali night.
Although no casualties have been reported, the fire caused damage to goods worth several lakhs of rupees.
Firefighters arrived promptly and worked tirelessly for hours to extinguish the fire. The suspected cause of the fire is firecrackers, but the exact cause remains unconfirmed.
Reports indicate that the fire originated in a saree shop and rapidly spread. Locals noticed the blaze and notified the fire department, who responded quickly to control the situation.
Initial assessments suggest that around 25-26 garment shops were completely destroyed, with several others suffering partial damage.
Thankfully, the fire service personnel managed to put out the fire within a few hours, preventing it from spreading to more shops.
