Jajpur: Asserting that BJP will ensure speedy progress of Odisha and its people if voted to power again at the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his government is making sincere efforts to make the state the gateway of developed India.
Addressing a public meeting at Benapur near Chandikhole in Jajpur district, the Prime Minister described Odisha as the energy source to ‘Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat’, while accusing Congress of having neglected the poor in the state in the past.
When the poor sought help from the erstwhile Congress government, it demanded guarantees from them, he said. “They (Congress) demanded guarantees from everybody. However, after 2014, the son of a poor man came to power and became the Prime Minister, he said that Modi would become the guarantee for the poor…,” the PM said.
Modi asserted that his government is providing easy loans and finances to the poor and weaker sections to launch a wide range of activities without seeking any guarantee. A permanent house, tap water and gas connection at home was once a dream for the poor; today it’s becoming a reality, he said.
The people of the country have reposed faith in the BJP-led government at the Centre because of ‘Modi Ki Guarantee,” he said.
Stressing that free electricity is also Modi’s guarantee; the PM said Odisha is the land of the Sun God and PM Surya Ghar Yojana has been launched by the Centre to provide free electricity. It will be a boon for the people of Odisha. By installing rooftop solar panels, consumers can get 300 units of free electricity and sell the surplus, he said.
Stating that the centre is investing in a big way in Odisha so that it becomes the gateway of Viksit Bharat, Modi said gas-based industries and other industries are being set up in Odisha. The gas pipelines will extend to other eastern states.
Odisha is going to be a big hub for polyester and raw materials, while in the petrochemicals sector, there have been investments of over Rs 2 lakh crore. More investment means it creates more employment for people, the PM said.
Modi, who attended the public meeting after launching a slew of projects worth Rs 20,000 crore in Chandikhole, was impressed with the huge turnout of people at the BJP rally and said it showed the mood of the East.
“Odisha’s resolution is very clear today. The ‘400 paar sanklap’ will make India the third largest economy of the world. It will also help in bringing a government again that takes strong decisions,” said Modi, implying that BJP is likely to win more than 400 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming elections.
Coming down heavily on Congress over corruption charges, Modi alleged that the grand old party, along with its INDIA allies, aimed only at filling their coffers and amassing wealth for themselves while they were in power.
Dubbing Congress and its allies as ‘dynasts’, the PM accused them of being incapable of thinking beyond their families. “On the other hand, I consider every family in the country as my own parivar and I work sincerely for them,” he said.
