NAAC recognition compulsory for degree colleges

Bhubaneswar: The new National Education Policy-2020 makes NAAC recognition compulsory. So the Principals have to plan how to get recognition for all the degree colleges. A committee has been formed by the Odisha State Higher Education Council to get NAAC recognition. A team will also be formed from Utkal University. The Principals can take the help of Higher Education Council and Utkal University officials while preparing for NAAC recognition, said Professor Ashok Kumar Das, Vice Chairman of Odisha State Higher Education Council.

A two-day Principal’s Conference has been organized by the Utkal University’s College Development Council (CDC) at the MKCG Auditorium. Attending the valedictory ceremony as the chief guest, Odisha State Higher Education Council Vice Chairman Prof. Ashok Kumar Das said that in the next 4 months, there is going to be a change in the norms for NAAC recognition. Then the Principals should identify the persons who will be the representative of the team for the recognition of the college. Whether it is the National Education Policy or the revised rules of the new UGC guidelines, the Principles have to implement them. This will make it easier to plan for undergraduate and graduate courses. Faculty should be encouraged to conduct research. The latest technology in administration, examination management and documentation must be used for the said purpose. The role of Principal is important in teaching, examination management, administrative work, quality education and implementation of government plans. No plan can be implemented without the full cooperation and good understanding of the Principals. If they pay attention to these aspects then surely the degree colleges can get a good NAAC grade, he added.
