Bhubaneswar: Nor-wester rain brought down the maximum temperature in several parts of Odisha, bringing relief from the prevailing heatwave condition. The India Meteorological Department has predicted that hail and strong winds may prevail in most places of the state till March 25.
Heavy rains have lashed many parts of the state due to the effects of the western disturbances in the last 24 hours. The IMD has predicted a decrease in temperature by 3-5 degrees Celsius over the next four days due to Nor’wester rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The regional weather office has, however, predicted a gradual rise in temperature from March 25. The IMD has issued an orange alert for 12 districts in Odisha, predicting thunderstorms and heavy rainfall over the next four days. Districts under orange alerts are Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jaipur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Angul.
Additionally, 18 districts have been placed under a yellow warning, indicating a possibility of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The low-pressure system over Odisha and the presence of a trough line over northwest India are contributing to the Nor’wester rain.
