Normal Life Hit In Odisha’s Kuchinda Due To Bandh Demanding District Status

Sambalpur: Normal life was disrupted in Kuchinda sub-division of Odisha’s Sambalpur due to a dawn-to-dusk shutdown demanding district status to the area at the earliest.

The 12-hour bandh was called by the Zilla Kriyanusthan Committee of Kuchinda to press for the demand.

Elaborate security arrangements were made to prevent any untoward incident during the bandh. Police personnel in strength were deployed at several locations as a precautionary measure.

Shops, business establishments, educational institutions, banks and offices remained closed in view of the bandh. Vehicular movement was also disrupted as the bandh supporters held picketing and road blockade at several places.

However, emergency services have been excluded from the ambit of the bandh observance.
Police said the bandh remained peaceful so far without any untoward incident.

Several political and social organisations have extended support to the bandh call.
