Odisha registers 73.97% voter turnout, Nabarangpur records highest polling

Bhubaneswar: The approximate voter turnout in the first phase of polling in Odisha was estimated to be 73.97% by 11 pm.

The polling for simultaneous election to Lok Sabha and state Assembly was held in 4 Parliamentary constituencies of Berhampur, Koraput Kalahandi and Nabarangpur and 28 Assembly segments under those seats. The Parliamentary constituencies covered 8 districts in the state.

The highest polling was recorded in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat where 80.22% of voters exercised their franchise. On the other hand, the prestigious Berhampur Lok Sabha segment witnessed the lowest voter turnout with 63.34% of voters casting their votes. In Assembly segments, Nabarangpur also recorded highest voters turnout with 85.61% while Berhampur witnessed lowest with 54.14%.

The CEO office, however, said this was the approximate trend of voting. The turnout figure may go up after revision on Tuesday. In 2019 elections, the state had recorded 66% turnout of voters in the first phase.
