ORERA Rules To Be Amended To Simplify Registration Process: Odisha Minister

Bhubaneswar: Certain rules of the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) are likely to be amended to simplify the process of purchase and sale of land in the state.

Giving this information during a visit to Sambalpur, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari told reporters that the government has received complaints about difficulty faced by people during land registration process. Talks are being held with the Urban Development Department in this regard, he said.

Stating that RERA has complicated legal provisions, he said an individual is unable to sell land during emergencies like medical purpose, education of children, or marriage.

Therefore, it is necessary to bring changes in RERA and the Revenue department is looking into all aspects with the Urban Development department and see what can be done in this regard, the Minister said.

Noting that E-registration process is being done through outsourcing, Pujari said because of outsourcing, people have to depend on others and government has received a lot of complaints in this regard.

Claiming that the outsourcing company is paying low salary to its staff, he said employees are cheating people and lang registration process is getting affected.

The Minister also warned land brokers of strict action and said they will be barred from entering any office.
