Ornaments, cash of Rs 40 lakh looted from house in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Robbers targeting residential complexes in and around Odisha capital has become a routine affair. In a fresh incident, robbers looted gold ornaments and cash worth more than Rs 40 lakh from a duplex under Pahala area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Friday night.

As per preliminary information, around four robbers broke into a duplex located in the Citi Homes complex in Pahala’s Tiranapada locality and decamped with diamond, gold and silver jewelry, as well as cash worth more than Rs 40 lakh. The family members were reportedly away for a wedding-related work of one of their daughter

Although, the robbers had damaged the CCTV system and fled with the cameras, Pahala Police recovered footage from the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and began a probe, sources said.

Worth mentioning that in recent months, a number of robbery and theft cases have been reported in the Odisha capital. The burglars have been specifically targeting residential complexes on the outskirts of the city in Pahala, Chandaka, Airfield, Palasuni, Dhauli, Uttara Chhak and Kalinga Nagar.
