Puri: After a long wait, the postgraduate classes of Satyabadi Odia University in Puri district have commenced. The classes began on Tuesday on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
Commencement of PG courses at the educational institution was described as a milestone in the field of Odisha language and literature. While the classes started at the local Pantha Niwas as a temporary measure, the permanent building of the university is expected to be complete very soon, sources said.
In a message to the students and faculties, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid homage to the great persons who enriched Odia language and literature. Like Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya, Odia University will help further strengthen our national consciousness, he said.
Odia, the 2,500-year-old classical language, should be researched and ample of opportunity for the purpose should be created, the Chief Minister said. Digital technology must be taken advantage of to facilitate Odia language in reaching out to people in the world, he said.
The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to complete the construction of the university’s building by December, 2023.
Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Satyabadi MLA Umakanta Samantaray, Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr Sabita Pradhan and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
