Police Case Against Teacher Couple Over Fake Certificates In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: A case has been registered against a teacher couple in Odisha’s Ganjam district for allegedly joining the teaching profession by submitting forged certificates.

According to sources, Kabisuryanagar police registered the case against Banita Kumari Sahu and her husband Nirananda Sahu on Monday. The police action was taken following a complaint filed by Kabisuryanagar block education officer (BEO), Abhimanyu Sahu.

Inspector In-Charge (IIC) Prabhat Kumar Sahu was quoted by TNIE as saying that the case was registered based on a complaint by social worker Samarjit Mohanty, who raised concerns about the authenticity of the couple’s academic credentials. He urged the district education officer to take appropriate action against the two.

The BEO was assigned to investigate the matter and discrepancies emerged during verification in the academic records of both Banita and Nirananda.

Banita, posted in Badamahuri Upgraded High School, allegedly manipulated her marksheet to inflate her grades. Similarly, Nirananda, working at Nodal High School in Hatioto, was found to have forged his marksheets.

While a case has been officially registered against the teacher couple, efforts are underway to locate the two, police said.
