Bhubaneswar: The total donations to Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri by devotees in the last three years has crossed a whopping Rs 113 crore mark, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan informed the Odisha Assembly on Saturday.
In a written reply tabled in the House, Harichandan stated that from 2021 to 2024 the total collections from various donation sources to the 12th Century shrine was reported to be Rs 113,2,55,889.
Giving year-wise break-up from different sources, the Minister stated that in 2021-22 the collection from temple donation boxes was Rs 8,23,13,127. Similarly, it was Rs 15,46,17,152 in 2022-23 and in 2023-24 it was Rs 16,92,36,974.
Enumerating more details, Harichandan stated the donations received through bank accounts in 2021-22 was Rs 6,83,31,961. Likewise, in 2022-23 the funds received was Rs 30,72,27,216 and in the last fiscal the temple received Rs 22,24,39,918 through bank deposits.
The Minister further stated that the temple received Rs 2,25,31,497 in 2021-22 through other sources. Similarly, the collections were Rs 4,62,00,343 and Rs 5,73,57,701 in the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24 respectively.
