Puri: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has released the schedule of rituals in the temple in Puri during the holy month of Kartik.
The schedule was decided at a meeting of SJTA officials with servitors of Chhatish Nijog held at Niladri Bhakta Novas in Puri on Monday.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, chief administrator of SJTA Ranjan Kumar Das said the schedule was decided after discussing various issues including darshan of deities by ‘Habishyalis’ (women who observe fast throughout the Kartik month, timely completion of rituals and Mahaprasad.
As per the schedule valid for everyday from October 25 to November 27, the main doors of the temple will be opened at 4 am, Radha Damodar Besha of the deities completed between 6.30 am and 7.30 am and Bala Dhupa (morning puja) between 10 am and 10.30 am.
Special schedule has been fixed for October 28 for partial lunar eclipse. On this day, the main doors of the temple will be opened at 2 am, Radha Damodar Besha completed between 4.30 am and 5.30 am, Bala Bhog offered between 8 am and 8.30 am and Mahasnana (grand bath) of the deities completed at 2 pm.
Considering heavy rush of devotees in the temple during the month, it was decided that they will not be allowed visit to the kitchen inside the temple.
“No devotee will be allowed to keep standing during darshan of Lords in different temples on the premises. Special attention will be given to the Habishyalis and old and infirm devotees,” said the chief administrator.
