Bhubaneswar: In a bid to boost sales and provide regular employment to the weavers, the Handloom, Textiles & Handicrafts Department organised a Special Handloom Expo-2023 at Ekamra Haat here on Sunday.
Principal Secretary of the department Aurobinda Padhee inaugurated the expo in the presence of Managing Director of Sambalpuri Bastralaya H.K. Mahali and Marketing Officer of Sambalpuri Bastralaya Hemanta Kumar Mishra.
The special expo having 34 stalls will continue till December 15. The weaver members of PWCS/ SHG of Baragrh, Cuttack, Sonepur, Athagarh, Baripada, Balasore, Patanagarh,Nayagarh, Khordha and Boudh Zone including Sambalpuri Bastralaya are showcasing their products. The stalls are allotted to the participants on free of cost.
The department has targeted to achieve sale of Rs.328.75 lakh through handloom artisans and Rs.135.42 lakh thorough handicrafts artisans. This is a common platform where customers will get handloom products of all over the state in a reasonable price with 10% rebate. Customers are requested to avail the opportunity, the officials said.
