Ayushman Bharat Yojana to be launched in Odisha on April 11

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development aimed at bolstering healthcare accessibility, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana is set to be inaugurated at the historic Bali Jatra ground in Cuttack. Union Health Minister JP Nadda will officiate the launch ceremony in the presence of Odisha CM Mohan Majhi and other Union Ministers.

This announcement was made by Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling following a comprehensive review meeting on Saturday. The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is a flagship health insurance scheme initiated by the Government of India. It aims to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage to economically vulnerable sections of society.

Mahaling, after a detailed review session, expressed optimism about the scheme’s potential impact on the state’s healthcare landscape. He emphasized that the launch at Bali Jatra grounds is not just symbolic but also strategic, aiming to reach a large segment of the population.

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm among the residents, especially those from economically weaker sections who stand to benefit directly. Many view this initiative as a crucial step towards equitable healthcare access.

The forthcoming launch of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana at Bali Jatra ground marks a pivotal moment in the state’s healthcare journey. The initiative is poised to significantly enhance healthcare accessibility and affordability for countless families, aligning with the broader vision of universal health coverage.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had stated that the scheme will provide medical coverage to approximately 3 crore 52 lakh people across Odisha. Under this initiative, eligible beneficiaries will receive cashless treatment in hospitals, easing their financial burden in times of medical emergencies.

The Chief Minister further emphasized that the scheme will be applicable in over 29,000 hospitals across the country, enabling beneficiaries to receive quality healthcare services without financial constraints. This will particularly benefit people from economically weaker sections, rural communities, and those facing difficulties in accessing expensive medical care.
